The Cleveland Central Catholic High School and Loretta's Helping Hands Thanksgiving Basket Drive is a wonderful opportunity to support local families during the holiday season. Each grade level is assigned specific food items to donate, making it easy for participants to contribute: 5th grade brings canned green beans or boxed stuffing, 10th grade donates canned sweet potatoes or boxed cornbread, 11th grade offers boxed cake or dessert mix, 12th grade supplies boxed macaroni and cheese or canned potatoes, and staff members contribute white or brown sugar or meat of choice. Be sure to check expiration dates for all donations to ensure safety and quality. Donations can be dropped off at convenient locations throughout the school, including the Atrium, Business Office on the 1st floor, Fr. Fiala Room on the 2nd floor, and the Chapel on the 3rd floor from November 3rd through November 20th. The class that collects the most items will earn a fun dress-down day, encouraging friendly competition and increased participation. Following the donation drive, the Thanksgiving Community Meal on November 25th at the St. Stanislaus Social Center Cafeteria welcomes everyone for a warm, friendly meal. Open from 4 to 7 PM, the event offers free entry and parking, making it accessible to all community members. It's a great chance to come together, enjoy food, and celebrate gratitude. Additionally, families interested in receiving Thanksgiving baskets must register by November 19th, with pickup scheduled for November 22nd from 1 to 3 PM. Volunteers are essential to the event’s success, assisting with both distribution and preparation. Those interested can sign up through the volunteer link provided on flyers or contact spugh@ccc-hs.org for questions. Engaging in these events not only helps provide support and nourishment to families in need but also fosters a strong spirit of community, generosity, and family engagement. Whether you are donating, volunteering, or attending the meal, your participation helps to create a meaningful and memorable Thanksgiving for everyone involved.
