What’s your favorite designer items ?
Growing up I never had any designer anything but I loved looking through magazines such as teen vogue and would cut up the pieces of designer items and create a collage / vision board of items I would like to own one day. Now that I’m older, I would like to get some pieces to start a collection. I am not a purse / handbag girlie but now that I have seen lots of ‘old money’ fashion videos, I kind of want everything they have. I can’t walk in heels so I wouldn’t purchase any. I think for designer / luxury items, I would get purses and jewelry. There’s lots of sunglasses and bags at stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Ross. But for luxury items such as LV, YSL, Hermes, Chanel etc… I would get them at the actual store.
I would like a Chanel bag and jewelry, Hermes Mini Kelly, Vancleef jewelry, and some other items that I can’t name at the moment (because I don’t want to sound dumb)

After sharing my initial dream designer wishlist, I’ve been diving deeper into what it truly means to start a luxury collection – not just acquiring beautiful pieces, but making smart choices that resonate with my personal style and potentially hold their value over time. It's more than just wanting a Chanel bag or an Hermes Mini Kelly; it’s about understanding why these pieces are iconic and how they fit into my life. One of the biggest questions I've encountered is, 'How do you choose a luxury handbag that truly complements your personal style?' For me, it starts with introspection. What's my everyday uniform? Am I a jeans and t-shirt kind of person, or do I lean towards more tailored looks? Understanding my existing wardrobe helps me identify gaps and avoid impulse buys. For someone aiming for a minimalist wardrobe, a classic Balmain bag, with its clean lines and structured silhouette, could be perfect. It’s about assessing how a bag will integrate seamlessly, rather than just stand out. I'm learning that versatility and timelessness are key. Then there's the 'investment' aspect – a term thrown around a lot in luxury discussions. Does owning Chanel costume jewelry enhance my personal style and status in a way that feels worth the investment? This is tricky. While Chanel fine jewelry can be a significant investment with potential for appreciation, costume jewelry is more about personal expression and the immediate joy it brings. It adds that iconic touch and elevates an outfit, but financially, it’s more of a personal indulgence than a monetary investment. The true value often lies in its heritage and the feeling it evokes. Similarly, when thinking about Chanel ready-to-wear, certain pieces tend to retain or even increase their value over time more than others. We’re talking about the iconic tweed jackets, classic knitwear, or timeless dresses – not necessarily the seasonal, highly trend-driven items. These pieces are built with incredible craftsmanship and represent the brand’s enduring legacy. They are often sought after for their quality and classic design, making them 'safer' long-term buys if value retention is a concern. Another fascinating area is what makes brands like Chanel stand out in terms of design. Whether it’s their quilted leather, signature chain straps, or the double C logo, these unique design elements are instantly recognizable and contribute to their perceived value. It's not just about the brand name; it’s about the distinct aesthetic and heritage that these elements carry. Ultimately, I'm looking for luxury handbag purchases that are most likely to stay relevant over the years. Comparing brands qualitatively, I find myself drawn to those with strong creative direction and distinctive design codes that have proven their staying power. Brands like Chanel and Hermes have consistently produced pieces that transcend trends, becoming cultural icons. Their enduring appeal isn't just about price; it's about unparalleled quality, meticulous craftsmanship, and a design philosophy that champions timeless elegance. While fashion trends change, a classic flap bag or a well-chosen Birkin will always be in style. It's about choosing pieces that tell a story, your story, for years to come.
