4C LOW POROSITY HAIRCARE MUST HAVES
To my coily sistasss with low porosity 4c hair,
These are some of the products that have brought my hair back to life. But here is a disclaimer- both of the shampoos are clarifying so I personally don’t use them too often so I don’t strip my hair of any moisture. I use them when I have product build up/ after protective styles. Babe don’t forget to prepoo before you wash your hair! (See Product No. 4 & 5) 👀
Product No. 1- is a rich leave in conditioner that brings moisture back into the hair. It has that slip effect iykyk! 🤭
Product No. 2- is the hydrating clarifying shampoo for low porosity hair! I switch between using this one and product no. 3 for wash days after protective styles.
Product No. 3- is another clarifying shampoo that’s really good for relaxed or color processed hair as well.
Product No. 4- is a replenishing conditioner infused with sweet orange oil and BABYYY… this right here mixed with product No. 5 makes the perfect prepoo before shampooing. 🤏🏽🤏🏽🤏🏽😌
Product No. 5- is 100% virgin Aloe Vera Oil which aids in moisturizing the hair follicles
Product No. 6- is a hair mask that I also mix with product No. 5 and other lightweight oils like Avocado oil or grape seed oil because it’s thick and the oil helps create a creamier texture to provide smoother application. The oils also help intensify hair moisture. 🫶🏽

Okay, my fellow low porosity 4C queens, let's get real about haircare. If your hair sometimes feels like it just repels moisture, weighs down easily, or gets product buildup super fast, you know the low porosity struggle is real. I've been there, and through a lot of trial and error, I’ve found a routine and products that truly make a difference for my coils. One thing I've learned is the absolute importance of a proper clarifying shampoo. For low porosity hair, products can sit on the surface and create a barrier, preventing moisture from getting in. That’s why a good clarifying wash day is non-negotiable. I personally love integrating the SheaMoisture Grapeseed & Tea Tree Oils Low Porosity Weightless Hydrating Shampoo into my routine. It's fantastic because it effectively cleanses without stripping, and the tea tree oil is amazing for keeping my scalp feeling fresh. The 'weightless hydrating' aspect is key for us – it means clean hair that isn't weighed down, ready to absorb goodness. Speaking of absorbing goodness, pre-pooing is a game-changer! Before I even think about shampoo, I always apply a pre-poo mix. My go-to is mixing a replenishing conditioner, like the ORS Olive Oil Strengthen & Restore Replenishing Conditioner, with a pure oil such as 100% virgin Aloe Vera Oil. This creates a protective layer that helps detangle and prevents the shampoo from stripping too much natural moisture, which is especially important for our hair type. It’s like giving your strands a head start in the hydration game. Deep conditioning is another non-negotiable for me. After cleansing, I go in with a rich masque. The SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque is a staple in my regimen. Since low porosity hair can struggle with thicker products, I always mix my masque with lightweight oils like avocado or grapeseed oil, or even my Aloe Vera Oil. This not only creates a smoother, creamier texture for easier application but also helps the mask penetrate better, delivering that intense moisture deep into the hair shaft instead of just sitting on top. My curls literally drink it up! Finally, don't forget your leave-in! After rinsing, a good leave-in conditioner like the As I Am Long & Luxe Pomegranate & Passion Fruit GroYogurt Leave-In Conditioner is crucial for sealing all that hard-earned moisture. It provides that essential 'slip' that makes detangling a breeze and keeps my hair feeling soft and pliable throughout the week. Remember, consistency is key, and listening to your hair's needs will help you achieve those juicy, hydrated coils we all crave!
