A random Popmart line led to a wild adventure

While shopping, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon a long Popmart line. Curious, we discovered everyone was queuing for Labubu figures. Suddenly, he became obsessed. After researching, he insisted on getting some to hang on my bag, constantly checking the app day and night. I suggested writing a script to snag them, but he said that’d take away the fun. One morning, right after my early meeting, he excitedly announced he’d scored some. The pickup location was an hour away, and he had a flight for a business trip in 3 hours. We embarked on a high stakes mission. We drove an hour to get the Labubu figures, then raced straight to the airport.

Have you or your partner ever gone to extreme lengths for a collectible? How do you balance enthusiasm with practicality?

I’ve been lucky enough to score a few on Pop Mart, the stores don’t seem to be stocking them anymore. I honestly don’t think they’re expensive, $28 for a real one. For something that brings joy, that’s not a bad price.
