Class of 2026👩🎓
Starting college is an exciting but overwhelming phase for many in the Class of 2026. Like many of my peers, I found myself simultaneously excited about new freedoms and nervous about the responsibilities ahead. A relatable feeling shared among us is the ongoing process of 'figuring out how to adult.' This concept includes managing finances, balancing studies with social life, and learning to maintain personal well-being. One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the importance of embracing imperfection. None of us have everything figured out, and it’s okay to ask for help or take a step back when needed. Creating a support network of friends, mentors, and family has been invaluable in navigating challenges. Additionally, developing time management skills early can relieve a lot of pressure. Setting realistic goals and breaking tasks into smaller steps help in managing coursework and extracurricular activities. Staying organized with planners or digital apps provides a clear overview of priorities. Moreover, mindfulness and self-care routines have made a profound difference in maintaining mental health. Taking time each day to unwind—whether through exercise, hobbies, or simply quiet reflection—helps recharge and stay focused. Finally, the Class of 2026 is learning that adulthood doesn’t arrive overnight but is a gradual process filled with trial and error. Sharing stories and advice about setbacks and successes makes this journey less daunting and more communal. For anyone still 'figuring out how to adult,' remember that every challenge is an opportunity to grow and that you are not alone in this.
