My Trip to Kenya
I had such an amazing time in Kenya for the Division of International Special Education and Services (DISES) Conference. I just wish I was able to stay longer. Here are a few pictures from my trip.
Kenya offers a rich blend of cultural, educational, and natural attractions, making it a top destination for travelers interested in both professional development and authentic experiences. The Division of International Special Education and Services (DISES) Conference held in Nairobi provides an excellent opportunity for attendees to engage in important educational dialogues while immersing themselves in Kenya’s vibrant environment. Nairobi Safari Park, located just outside the bustling city, serves as a remarkable venue where visitors can witness wildlife in vast open spaces. This park is ideal for experiencing Kenya’s famous safari culture without traveling far from the capital. Additionally, Lake Naivasha, known for its stunning freshwater lake ecosystem, offers a unique chance to observe pelicans and other bird species eagerly waiting for their fish snack. The surrounding Crescent Island provides scenic walking trails where visitors may encounter diverse wildlife in a serene setting. Travelers should note the local currency for better preparation. For example, Kenyan Shillings (KES), such as a 5200 shillings note equivalent to approximately 70 USD, is used for transactions. Experiencing local dining, such as lunch by Lake Naivasha, highlights Kenyan hospitality and typical cuisine. Altogether, combining the educational aspects of the DISES Conference with Kenya’s natural beauty allows for a multifaceted trip that enriches both mind and spirit. Whether attending professional gatherings or enjoying wildlife and landscapes, Kenya remains a destination full of memorable moments and cultural depth worth exploring.
