I’m a psychologist — and I know many of you are feeling overwhelmed, angry, and unsettled right now. That reaction makes sense.

When systems fail, when accountability feels absent, and when people are harmed in ways that should never happen, it creates something bigger than personal stress — it creates societal anxiety.

I don’t want you to shut that feeling down or be told it’s “no big deal.” I want you to think critically. I want you to use your voice, your platform, and your influence with intention.

Channel the anger productively.

Advocate.

Vote.

Support causes that protect human dignity.

If leadership matters to you — consider stepping into it.

Strong emotions are signals. What we do with them determines what comes next.

This doesn’t last forever — especially when people decide to act.

It’s important to acknowledge these emotions rather than suppress them. In my own experience, channeling anger into purposeful action helped transform feelings of helplessness into empowerment. For example, volunteering for local community initiatives or engaging in respectful activism provided a sense of contribution and hope. Finding ways to influence change—whether through voting, advocacy, or supporting organizations that uphold human rights—can help restore a sense of control and promote healing on a personal and societal level. It also helps to stay informed and connect with communities that share your values. Leadership doesn’t always mean holding formal positions; sometimes it’s about being a catalyst for discussion and positive change within your circles. Remember, strong emotions are vital signals that call for reflection and action. Instead of allowing anger to fester into despair, using it productively can drive significant progress. Over time, as collective efforts build, societal anxiety diminishes and hope is restored. Taking one step at a time in using your voice and influence with intention turns emotional energy into meaningful impact.
