Ever been called the black sheep of the family?

Maybe you questioned tradition. Chose a path your family did not understand. Loved across race, gender or culture. Or simply refused to become who everyone expected you to be.

Baa Baa Blacksheep: Confessions of the Family Rebels is a night of live storytelling and comedy celebrating the rebels, disruptors and cycle-breakers in our families.

Each performer gets five minutes to share the moment they realised they were different — whether hilarious, painful, shocking or liberating.

Expect laughter, gasps and plenty of “OMG, SAME.”

... Read moreAttending events like Baa Baa Blacksheep truly highlights the unique experiences of family rebels and disruptors. I remember attending a similar storytelling night where participants shared deeply personal stories about questioning traditions and embracing identities that their families didn’t always understand. What struck me most was the raw honesty and the diversity of perspectives—stories ranged from humorous realizations to deeply emotional moments of breaking free from expectations. It’s empowering to hear these voices, as they often reflect the struggles and triumphs of those who feel like the black sheep. Whether it’s loving across race, gender, or culture, or simply choosing a life path that isn’t the norm, these stories resonate on a human level. Such events not only foster inclusivity but also create a sense of community among attendees who might feel isolated in their experiences. Furthermore, the charitable aspect of this event—donating all proceeds to RainbowAsia—adds another layer of purpose, supporting an organization that champions LGBTQ+ rights and well-being across Asia. This aligns beautifully with celebrating the rebels who may also represent marginalized identities. If you’ve ever felt like the odd one out or challenged family expectations, attending a night like Baa Baa Blacksheep can be both affirming and inspiring. It’s a reminder that sometimes, being the black sheep is a sign of authenticity and courage, not isolation. Plus, enjoy the mix of comedy and storytelling that brings these themes to life with laughter and empathy.

I graduated with honours, then took the lowest paid job in the room
On paper I had everything. The degree. The honours. The A+ in the hardest class. A seat at a big famous firm. Then I started, and almost nobody there wanted to be there. People used their leave to interview somewhere else. One senior looked at me and asked, "Why did you even join?"

GZ: The BEST WANTON NOODLES I’ve Ever Had
Not an overstatement when I say this is the BEST WANTON MEE I’ve ever had, it was so simple yet so delicious and it only costed 18 RMB (S$3.52) per plate! This little eatery only has about 8 tables, they don’t accept reservation and it’s walk in only, no frills. People come here to eat a plate

Not everything called ‘dynamics’ is harmless
Sometimes adult bullying doesn’t look obvious. It can be exclusion, unfair blame, or people just following the crowd because it feels safer for them — even when it’s unfair. And it often gets brushed off as “dynamics.” But if you’ve ever been on the receiving end of that, I want you to know this
