One thing that stands out is how my youthful appearance often surprises patients and colleagues alike. Being an Asian female dentist who looks young helps create a friendly first impression, but it also means I sometimes face assumptions about my experience level. Despite this, I've learned to use it as an advantage, building trust through my professionalism and skills. What really keeps me motivated is the genuine excitement I have for my job every day—whether I’m wearing my signature pink scrubs or engaging with patients. It’s that enthusiasm that makes the long hours and demands rewarding. I also love how small details, like eyelash extensions, can add confidence to my appearance, helping me feel both professional and true to myself. Balancing work and personal life can be tricky, but having a supportive partner who understands the dental field makes a huge difference. My husband, who also looks young thanks to his Asian male features, shares some of the same experiences around appearance-based perceptions. Together, we navigate these misunderstandings and celebrate the passion that defines our careers. For anyone entering dentistry, I’d say embrace what makes you unique—whether it’s your youthful looks, personality, or cultural background. Let your excitement for the profession shine through, because that’s what truly resonates with patients and helps you thrive in this fulfilling field.
