new coffee beans!
so my lovely boyfriend got me a subscription box called “caffeine & legends” where they send you a tea or coffee (or both), and they send you a book as well!
should i do a post on the entire box’s contents?
today i got to try out mighty missouri coffee co. morning blend. i usually go for medium > dark for my roasts, so this light bean was a new taste for me! it was more acidic than i’m used to, and definitely didn’t need any sweatener! i used some steamed oat milk and mocha syrup, but like i said it truly could have done without.

After my initial delightful surprise with the Mighty Missouri Coffee Co. Morning Blend, I've spent a bit more time getting to know this intriguing light roast. You know how sometimes a first impression can be just the tip of the iceberg? That's definitely been the case here! While my first sip highlighted its vibrant acidity, which was quite a shift from my usual medium-to-dark roasts, I've come to appreciate how that bright note really wakes up your palate. It’s not just acidic for the sake of it; it has a lively, almost citrusy quality that makes it incredibly refreshing, especially for those early "GOOD 7:30AM MORNIN'" moments. The bag itself describes the coffee as 'whole-bodied, bold, and rich,' and while 'light roast' might make you think otherwise, I can totally see what they mean now. It's got a surprisingly robust mouthfeel for a lighter bean. It stands up beautifully to additions like my steamed oat milk without getting lost, yet it’s equally enjoyable black when you really want to savor those nuanced flavors. I've found that brewing it with a pour-over really highlights its clarity and aromatics, bringing out those 'bold' characteristics without overwhelming the lighter notes. For those who prefer an espresso, I imagine it would make a wonderfully bright shot, perhaps even a unique base for a latte if you're feeling adventurous. Speaking of customization, remember how I said it didn't need sweetener? I still stand by that for pure enjoyment, but I've experimented a little. If you're someone who absolutely loves a touch of sweetness, a tiny drizzle of maple syrup or a dash of vanilla can transform it into a cozy treat without masking its inherent character. It really shines as a 'breakfast blend,' pairing wonderfully with something light like a croissant or fresh fruit. Its invigorating profile also makes it a fantastic pick-me-up for an afternoon slump, a refreshing alternative to a heavier, darker brew. What I love about exploring new blends like the Mighty Missouri Morning Blend, especially through a subscription box like Caffeine & Legends, is the opportunity to step outside my coffee comfort zone. It's taught me that a light roast can be just as satisfying and complex as a dark one, offering a completely different but equally rewarding experience. If you're on the hunt for a coffee that promises a 'bold' start to your day while still delivering a 'rich' and 'whole-bodied' cup, even if it's a lighter roast than you're used to, this one is definitely worth a try. It’s become a delightful staple in my morning routine, proving that sometimes, the best coffee experiences are the unexpected ones.
