Little Free Pantry - Day 2!

Yesterday, we started our little free pantry box beside our curb. Here’s how the first 24 hours went!

❤️ A chicken farmer reached out to donate their extra eggs (1-3 dozen per day) starting within the next week

❤️ Multiple community members have reached out to organize drop offs of food and hygiene donations

❤️ We are already close to needing a second bucket!!!

I am so grateful for everyone in my community that has dropped off a donation or sent an item from our Amazon list. I know we can help so many people if we continue!

Second photo is a generous donation I was delivered this morning from an amazing community member! 🥰

If you can donate, we are still in need or dog food, cat food, and ziplock bags to distribute it. There’s an Amazon link in my bio!

... Read moreThe first 24 hours of the Little Free Pantry initiative have shown incredible community involvement and support. A free pantry is a simple way to provide food and essentials to those in need in your neighborhood, fostering a spirit of sharing and kindness. Notably, a nearby chicken farmer has offered to donate 1 to 3 dozen fresh eggs daily, a valuable protein source many recipients will appreciate. Additionally, local neighbors have organized food and hygiene drop-offs, demonstrating how even small contributions can collectively make a big difference. The rapid growth of donations even led to a need for a second bucket to accommodate the supplies, showing the demand and generosity intertwined in this initiative. Alongside canned and dry foods, pet food is also vital as many struggling families have pets to care for. Ziplock bags are requested to help distribute items cleanly and efficiently. Setting up a Little Free Pantry involves selecting a visible, accessible location—like beside a curb—and ensuring regular maintenance and stocking. Social media and Amazon wish lists can be powerful tools to raise awareness and gather needed supplies. Individuals interested in contributing can donate via these platforms or coordinate drop-offs. This grassroots effort goes beyond food provision; it's about building connections, reducing stigma, and encouraging community members to look out for each other. Whether donating eggs, hygiene products, or simply spreading the word, every action supports a shared goal of community resilience and compassion.
