tonight’s dinner: step one
For Valentine’s Day this year my husband and I decided to stay in. Neither of us are big on crowds or leaving our baby with anyone else for very long just yet. We picked some ambitious (at least for us!) recipes and planned out a whole dinner menu and we’re making everything together. This morning I wrote out the ingredients needed for each dish and placed them all into individual baskets. This makes it so much easier when it comes time to cook because you just grab the basket you need and everything’s already there. I’m really excited for this meal and to see how it all comes together!

Valentine's Day is the perfect occasion to show your love through a beautifully prepared meal. Start by selecting recipes that you and your partner will enjoy cooking together. Don't stress about complex dishes; instead, opt for delicious yet manageable options like chicken Provencal paired with fondant potatoes and a decadent apple tart for dessert. Make your cooking process enjoyable by organizing all ingredients into baskets ahead of time. This not only streamlines your preparation but also adds an element of fun to your cooking experience. You can even incorporate memorable touches, such as your favorite wine, to elevate the dinner further. When planning the menu, consider including ingredients that resonate with your personal tastes and romantic favorites. Look for inspiration in French cooking, which is renowned for its rich flavors and elegant presentations. Including items like Camembert and fresh herbs can enhance the dining experience significantly. Don't forget to set the mood! Lighting some candles and playing soft music can turn your dining area into a cozy and romantic setting. Remember, the most important part of this evening is spending quality time together, savoring every bite, and celebrating your love with each other.
