get in the frame
I’ve gone through fluctuations over time but I’ve been fat my whole life, and as a kid and teen that came with a lot of bullying. A lot of that stuck with me and to this day I’m not a super confident person, and I very rarely like pictures of myself. I tend to take all the pictures but shy away when someone else has a camera. A few weeks ago I looked through my photos and realized that beyond a few selfies, I really don’t have a lot of pictures with my son. I’ll set up all sorts of cute scenes but I get out of the way before anyone can get a picture that includes me. I’m super bummed that I got in my own way of having more memories to look back on, and I want to change that. We went out to lunch today and both my husband and I snapped some photos. I looked through ones that he had gotten and started picking apart my flaws when he stopped me and said “but look how happy you are in them!” and I realized he was right. Yes, I have a double chin. My face is round. And the expression on my face shows my absolute joy in holding my baby. The second two pictures in this post are Live and you can just see my mood. I’m happy to be there, happy to be with my family, and just overall happy. I’m not going to say I’ll love every photo of myself now, but this feels like progress. I want to be in the picture.
