I hand painted a set of keycaps!
I’ve been wanting a mechanical keyboard for a while but never justified the cost to get started. I found an Arteck keyboard at a local bin store a few weeks ago - it’s… okay, but for $5 it’s a start! The next week I found a big set of keycaps on $1 day. Someone had dumped the package so I have no idea what the brand is. They were just scattered around one of the bins and I grabbed every one I could find. I ended up with a ton of keys, but I was missing a few important ones. Since I had extras I figured I’d just paint and seal a whole set. I didn’t have a cap to fit the right shift key, but I painted a smaller key and then made little gummy bears to fit in the gaps. The bears are on stems from extra caps so they can be swapped or changed for a cap in the right size later. It’s far from perfect, it’s absolutely ridiculous to begin with, and I love it!
