I hate Labubu I think they are ugly

There are trends I’ll never touch, no matter how hyped they get. Labubu was definitely one of them until I totally caved. My boss first mentioned them earlier this year, and I had zero clue what they were. I Googled them, saw those squishy little figures, and thought: “Yeah, not for me.” They are ugly asf, I just didn’t get the hype.

But then a few weeks ago, something shifted. Suddenly, those tiny faces looked adorable like I couldn’t stop thinking about grabbing one. Now, I have my first Labubu sitting on my desk, and 5 more pre-ordered. I’m already planning to buy tiny clothes for them, but for now? Scrunchies make the perfect makeshift skirts, I know, but I’m hooked.

Funny how trends work, one minute you’re eyerolling, the next you’re deep in the fandom. What trend did you swear you’d never like until you totally fell for it?

... Read moreTrends have a funny way of sneaking up on us—even those we think we'll never embrace. Labubu figures, known for their squishy texture and quirky, sometimes offbeat designs, can be polarizing at first glance. But as I learned, spending a little time with these tiny collectibles changes everything. What once seemed 'ugly' became undeniably adorable, especially when accessorized creatively. Using everyday items like scrunchies as makeshift skirts not only adds personality but also sparks imagination and personal expression. This experience highlights the power of personal connection in fandom culture. Often, these figures serve as more than just desk decorations; they become conversation starters, creative outlets, and small companions that brighten daily routines. Labubu's charm lies in its unique aesthetic—a blend of whimsy and slight oddity—that invites fans to embrace imperfections and celebrate individuality. Moreover, the trend reflects a larger cultural embrace of the quirky and unconventional in collectibles. Rather than fitting traditional cute molds, Labubu stands out with its distinctive faces and textures, which appeal to those who appreciate uniqueness over classic beauty. If you’ve ever found yourself rolling your eyes at a trend only to become an enthusiastic fan later, you’re not alone. This story shows how openness and curiosity can transform our tastes and lead us to unexpected joys. So, what about you? Which trends did you refuse at first but eventually found yourself loving? Sharing these experiences not only connects us but also enriches our understanding of how trends shape identity and community.
