Let me know your favorite tiling project of the countdown & come along for the journey! Definitely one of my favorite DIY skills I have learned 😍
When I first started learning tiling as a DIY project, I was pleasantly surprised at how rewarding it was to see a room transform under my own hands. Despite the common stereotype that millennials lack practical skills, my experience proved otherwise. Taking on a tiling project requires patience and a steady hand, especially when working with fragile tiles that need to be handled with care. One of my favorite parts of tiling is the precision involved. Each tile must be placed accurately to ensure a smooth and visually pleasing finish. I found that watching ASMR videos related to tiling helped me pick up techniques and stay motivated during longer sessions. It's also a calming background for working. For others looking to start, I recommend beginning with a small wall or backsplash project rather than floors, which can be more demanding. Proper preparation, such as cleaning and leveling surfaces, makes a huge difference in the final result. I also learned that investing in good-quality tile spacers and adhesive saves time and frustration. Through this countdown of projects, I’ve gained not only skill but confidence in renovation work. DIY tiling became more than a hobby; it became a way to prove that hands-on skills are very much alive in my generation. I encourage anyone hesitant to try it to dive in and enjoy the creative and satisfying aspects of tile work.
