ZeeZee sat up unattended for 6 min!
Oh my goodness, you guys! I'm still buzzing from what happened with little ZeeZee today. I posted briefly about her sitting up for an incredible six minutes, totally unattended, and I just had to share more about this huge milestone! It felt like time stopped as I watched her, so focused and proud. Every parent knows that feeling, right? When your baby does something new, it’s just pure magic, and this was definitely one of those unforgettable happy moments for our family. It got me thinking about how quickly babies grow and develop. One day they're tiny newborns, and the next, they're pushing themselves up and exploring the world from a whole new perspective. Sitting up independently is such a massive developmental leap, and it’s usually something babies achieve between 4 and 7 months old. ZeeZee is right in that sweet spot, and seeing her achieve this makes me feel like she’s growing up so fast! Before they can sit independently, babies usually show a few signs that they’re getting ready. For us, ZeeZee had really developed strong head control. During tummy time, she'd push up high on her arms, sometimes even trying to get her knees under her. We also noticed her trying to lean forward from a reclining position, almost practicing those core muscles. If you're a parent wondering when your little one might start sitting, keep an eye out for these cues! We've been doing a lot of things to encourage her strength, without even realizing it was all leading up to this. Lots of supervised tummy time has been key – it builds incredible back, neck, and shoulder muscles. We also spent a lot of time on the floor, playing with toys just out of reach to encourage her to reach and shift her weight. Sometimes, we'd sit her between our legs or use a Boppy pillow for support, just to give her a taste of what it feels like to be upright and see the world differently. I think those little moments of supported sitting really helped her build confidence and understand her body better. It’s not just about the physical achievement, though. When babies can sit up, it opens up a whole new world for them. They can interact with toys more easily, watch what’s happening around them without being propped up, and even start to participate more actively during mealtimes. For ZeeZee, I can already see her curiosity sparking even more now that her hands are free to grab and explore while she's sitting. It's truly a game-changer! Of course, safety is always top of mind. Even though ZeeZee sat up for 6 minutes, I was right there, watching her like a hawk! When your baby is learning to sit, it’s super important to always supervise them closely and make sure they’re on a soft surface, just in case they topple over. We have a big play mat, and I always make sure there are no sharp edges or hard surfaces nearby. It's all about providing a safe and encouraging environment for them to practice. Watching ZeeZee reach this milestone has filled my heart with so much joy and pride. These little wins truly make parenting so rewarding. What have been some of your baby's most exciting milestones? I'd love to hear your stories! Every baby's journey is unique and wonderful, and sharing these happy moments makes them even more special.
