Disney travel tip

2025/6/8 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, fellow Disney enthusiasts, let's talk about a small but mighty item that can seriously impact your park experience: your straw! If you've been to Disney recently, you know they've made the switch to paper straws. While it's a fantastic step for the environment, let's be honest – they don't always hold up through a full Dole Whip or a refreshing iced coffee in the Florida heat. More than once, I've had a straw disintegrate mid-drink, leaving me scrambling for a solution. That's why my number one Disney travel tip is to pack reusable straws! You absolutely need one, or even a few, for your next adventure. So, what are the best reusable straws for Disney trips? Based on my personal experiences and lots of trial and error, here are my top recommendations: Silicone Straws: These are my absolute favorites, especially if you're traveling with kids or just prefer a softer feel. They're flexible, safe for teeth, and won't get hot or cold with your drink. Plus, they're super easy to clean. I love that they don't impact the taste of my drink. They're also great for thicker beverages like milkshakes or smoothies, which Disney has plenty of! Metal Straws: For durability and a sleek look, metal straws are a fantastic choice. They come with a little cleaning brush, which is essential. Just be mindful that they can transfer temperature, so your cold drink will make the straw cold, and a hot drink will make it hot. Always be careful with hot beverages. They're virtually indestructible, making them perfect for surviving busy park days. Collapsible/Telescopic Straws: If portability is your main concern, these are your best friends! They fold down into tiny cases that can easily clip onto your bag or fit in the smallest pocket. This is incredibly convenient when you're trying to minimize what you carry around the parks. I always keep one in my fanny pack for unexpected drink stops. Avoid Glass Straws: While aesthetically pleasing, I'd strongly advise against bringing glass straws into a bustling theme park. The risk of breakage is just too high, and the last thing you want is a safety hazard or a mess to clean up in the middle of Magic Kingdom. What to Look For When Picking Your Disney Straw: Portability: Can it easily fit in your park bag or pocket? Collapsible ones shine here. Durability: It needs to withstand being tossed around and used multiple times a day. Ease of Cleaning: Make sure it comes with a cleaning brush, and consider a small pouch or case to keep used straws separate from clean items. Comfort: If you dislike the feeling of metal, silicone is a better bet. My Top Tips for Using Reusable Straws at Disney: Carry a Cleaning Brush: This is non-negotiable! After you finish a drink, give your straw a quick rinse if possible, then use the brush to really clean it. I usually carry a small, sealable wet bag or a Ziploc for used straws to avoid getting my bag dirty. Stay Hydrated: Disney days are long and often hot. Having a reliable straw means you're more likely to enjoy your water or other beverages, helping you stay hydrated and energized. Don't Forget for Specialty Drinks: Think about all the amazing frosty treats, smoothies, and specialty coffees you'll want to enjoy. A sturdy straw makes these experiences so much better. Pack One Per Person (or More!): If you're traveling with family, ensure everyone has their own. You don't want to share a straw, especially after a few hours in the park! Trust me, adding a good reusable straw to your Disney packing list is a small effort that makes a big difference in your park experience. It's one of those little hacks that makes you feel like a true Disney pro!
