i queued 30 mins for this ~$10/pax Michelin Star ⭐️

This was one of those meals that stays with you long after you leave the table. From the first dish to the last bite, everything felt comforting, bold, and cooked with real confidence. Not flashy for the sake of it — just genuinely good Sichuan food done right.

My absolute favorites were the 口水鸡 and the 鹅腿, and honestly, I’d come back just for these two.

The 口水鸡 (mouth-watering chicken) was love at first bite. The chicken was silky and tender, and that sauce… deeply fragrant, nutty, spicy, and numbing in the best way. It’s the kind of dish where you keep going back “just for one more bite” until the plate is mysteriously empty. Spicy, yes — but balanced, not aggressive. You can tell real care went into the chili oil.

The 鹅腿 (braised goose leg) completely surprised me. The meat was so juicy and soft it practically fell apart, with a rich, savory flavor that felt both hearty and comforting. No gaminess at all — just deeply satisfying, slow-cooked goodness. This was the kind of dish that makes you pause for a second after the first bite.

We also really enjoyed the 峨眉扣肉. The pork belly was unbelievably soft, almost melting, with layers of flavor that felt warm and nostalgic. Rich but not overwhelming.

The 麻婆豆腐 was classic and done properly. Bold mala flavor, silky tofu, and just enough heat to keep things exciting without overpowering everything else. Simple, honest, and very comforting.

The 凉面 ended up being one of those quietly great dishes. Light, refreshing, slightly nutty, and tangy — perfect in between heavier dishes.

Overall, this meal felt thoughtful, authentic, and deeply satisfying. Nothing felt overcomplicated, nothing felt toned down, and everything tasted like it was cooked with intention. The Michelin recognition makes total sense here — this is food that’s meant to be enjoyed, shared, and remembered.

I’d happily come back, order the same favorites again, and still be just as excited. 🌶️✨

... Read moreIf you’re visiting Chengdu, this Michelin-starred spot is a hidden gem that offers incredible value for money. For around 329 RMB for five people, including standout dishes like the silky 口水鸡 (mouth-watering chicken) and hearty 鹅腿 (braised goose leg), you get a deeply satisfying and authentic Sichuan experience. One thing to note is the waiting time—I queued for about 30 minutes, which felt worth it given the quality and freshness of the food. The restaurant’s vibe is unpretentious, focusing on flavor and tradition rather than flashiness. Besides the must-try dishes mentioned, exploring local offerings such as knifed-sliced noodles with bone marrow broth and nine vegetable dumplings can enrich your experience, showcasing the diversity of Chengdu’s culinary scene. The 麻婆豆腐 (mapo tofu) here stands out as a perfect balance of spicy mala flavor and silky tofu texture. Also, if you’re converting the cost from RMB to SGD, the meal’s value is impressive given Singapore’s food pricing—they provide authentic Sichuan cuisine at a fraction of the cost. Don’t forget to try the 凉面 (cold noodles); it’s a refreshing counterpoint to the richer dishes. This blend of heat, spice, and texture makes for a memorable meal that showcases why Michelin acknowledged this restaurant. Whether you’re a fan of Sichuan spice or new to the cuisine, this restaurant’s carefully crafted dishes invite you to savor bold yet approachable flavors. Planning ahead for waiting and grouping your orders can help maximize your visit and enjoyment.
