the last slide is actually ABOMINABLE

With college orientations coming up super soon, I wanted to share my experience with dining hall food. Most schools whip out their best quality, most delicious foods for orientation. But they aren't actually serving that kind of food on the regular.

I wanted to share my experience with college dining hall food. Some of the food is really tasty but the food that isn't....good luck!

... Read moreAs students head off to college, dining hall food can be a major concern. Many students walk into their new dining halls with high hopes, expecting gourmet dishes based on orientation experiences. However, upon settling in, they often find a wide variety of culinary offerings that can range from delightful to dismal. From food trucks providing unique options every Friday to traditional Thanksgiving dinners that might not look appealing but taste fantastic, the dining experience is unpredictable. It's important for students to know that while some meals can be exceptional—like creamy ravioli or a baked potato loaded with toppings—others can be far less appetizing. A common sentiment among students is the occasional shock of served meals. Unique combinations, such as orange slices paired with cottage cheese in salads, can leave students puzzled. This rollercoaster of dining hall experiences can be daunting, but ultimately it adds to the collegiate journey. It's beneficial for first-year students to stay adventurous and keep trying different food offerings, and also share their findings about what's tasty versus what's not. Engaging with university campus communities online can also help students get recommendations on dining options. From there, they can collaborate with fellow students to discover hacks for making the most of dining hall menus or swapping tips about what to skip altogether.
