How to get ready for fall semester RIGHT NOW 🍂📚
College classes start in about a month, which means beginning to prepare for the fall semester! This is THE most important time to get a head start.
These are all super easy ways to get ahead that won't overwhelm or stress you out. Students at top universities begin preparing NOW in the SUMMER.
Here's what I've been doing this summer to get ahead for my fall semester:
📝 Returning student modules
• Most colleges have "returning student modules" to ensure all students have important up to date information.
• These modules are usually in Canvas and each one typically takes about 30(ish) minutes.
• If your don't complete these, then you might be barred from accessing other classes or enrolling in future classes.
📝 Make to-do chart for assignments
• I use Google Sheets to make this and it takes like maybe 10 minutes max
• I put ALL of my due dates here so I don't forget anything
• Having this pre-made and ready to go will make it SO much easier on yourself. You won't have to worry about making it when classes actually start.
📝 Read books related to your classes
• Look at course descriptions for the topics you'll be covering. Google books on that topic and pick whichever one calls to you
• You don't have to read a book for each class — just for the classes you want to prioritize
📝 Build strong habits you want to continue
• Creating good habits NOW instead of waiting until classes start will make it a lot easier to continue in the fall
• These can include: decreasing screen time, reading more books, making the bed in the morning, drinking enough water, working out 4-5x times, etc.
• I have a whole post on option ideas 😏

As the fall semester approaches, effective preparation can make a huge difference in your academic journey. One crucial aspect involves completing any required returning student modules. These online courses, usually found on platforms like Canvas, provide essential updates and may be necessary for accessing your classes. Don't overlook them; failing to do so might hinder your enrollment in future classes. Another smart strategy is to create a comprehensive to-do chart for assignments. Utilizing tools like Google Sheets allows you to encapsulate all due dates in one place, helping you visualize your deadlines and manage your time efficiently. This proactive approach not only reduces last-minute stress but also ensures that you always have a clear overview of your workload. Moreover, immersing yourself in reading materials related to your upcoming courses is beneficial. Exploring book recommendations based on your syllabus topics can set a strong foundation for your learning. Prioritize the classes you’re most enthusiastic about and dive into engaging materials that will enhance your understanding. Lastly, instilling strong, positive habits before the semester begins can set the tone for your entire college experience. Focus on incorporating daily habits like making your bed, limiting screen time, regular exercise, and staying hydrated. Such routines, established in advance and consistently practiced, can significantly contribute to a productive semester and overall well-being. By following these strategies, you'll not only start your fall semester on the right foot but also develop skills that will serve you throughout your college career and beyond.
