experience ruined for me😔
Some background context:
My first year in college, I decided to go random for roomming. I had heard some horror stories about it but decided to be brave. The school randomly paired me with another girl.
THE STORY:
💔 I'm a super hygienic person and a massive cleaner. I wouldn't say I'm a clean-freak or unreasonable though.
💔 My roommate and I were friends for about two months. We would hang out together and eat dinner at the dining halls.
💔 One day she randomly cursed me out??? And our relationship was never the same after that
💔 She also became extremely messy to the point where our room was FILTHY. I tried to bring it up to her but got literally no where with it.
💔 There was trash, dirty laundry, dirty dishes, and just random junk everywhere. It even started coming onto MY SIDE.
💔 My breaking point was when I found a USED TAMPON in the middle of the floor. I guess she had missed the trash can????
💔 I reached out to the RA who tried to help me navigate the situation. It was close enough to the end of the year that I didn't even bother anymore 😭
💔 Trust that I moved out THE SECOND classes were finished.
💔 I've now learned to NEVER go random on a roommate again. And occasionally warn others NOT to do the same

My dad kicked me out when I was 17 and I couch surfed for a bit and then ended up living out of the inn in my hometown that I also happened to work at before doubling down on a full time job too so I could save up for my own apartment so when my friend suggesting getting a place together I was reluctant but desperate. She was a born again Christian and at the that time I was a party girl, nothing crazy, but I drank alcohol even though I was underage and I smoked pot although at that time it was illegal and I just overall felt like I had to kind of filter myself around her so I wasn’t suuuper big on the idea but I agreed anyway. And things were fine until one night I asked her if I could have a couple of friends over, literally 2. 2 friends. And I was honest with her and told her we planned to just kick back and have a few drinks and watch a movie and that if she wasn’t comfortable with that, then maybe she could make plans that night to stay with one of her sisters. Now ofc I wasn’t kicking her out. I told her she’s more than welcome to hangout but she doesn’t have to participate in drinking. And at first she agreed to staying the night at her sisters house but then the night of, literally half an hour before my shift was due to end, she texted me that she’d changed her mind and I told her too fucking bad…my friends are already on their way to pick me up and I’m not canceling plans I’ve had for like at least a week at that point…so she told me if I let them come over and we drank alcohol she’d call the cops on me. And I said BET. My friends and I literally made a mix drink with like A shot of vodka and each had 2 wine coolers over the span of like an entire day but when my roommate got home and opened the fridge she saw a nearly empty little bottle of vodka and LOST IT. At this point us girl we’re already in bed. But my roommate thought it was a totally appropriate response to shower with the door open, blow dry her hair, and blare Christian music at like 2 AM. 🧵
