Pro Parenting Hack: Make a double batch of pancake
💕With a 5th grader & a 16 month old, mornings are always a little crazy around here 🥲
💕I don’t love sending my 10 year old off to school with just a bowl of cereal (to each their own, we’re all just trying to survive) so I try my best to prep warm hearty breakfast choices ahead of time!
💕This is a super simple option to have cooked ahead of time & pair with some scrambled eggs for that much needed protein. I bought a plug in griddle because doing them one at a time took up most of my morning, now I can throw 4 on at a time & be done in about 30 minutes. Let them cool all the way, throw some parchment in between each pancake, let cool & freeze. Pop them in the microwave for 2 minutes & you’ve got hot homemade pancakes without the hassle on busy school mornings!

Preparing breakfasts ahead of time can transform hectic school mornings into much smoother experiences. One widely recommended tip is to make a double batch of pancakes on a weekend or Sunday morning and freeze half for busy school days. This method not only saves time but also ensures kids start their day with a warm and nutritious meal. Using a plug-in griddle significantly speeds up the cooking process; you can cook multiple pancakes simultaneously, reducing the time spent in the kitchen from what used to be hours to about 30 minutes. When pancakes are cool, separating each with parchment paper before freezing prevents them from sticking together and makes it easy to grab just the right portion needed. When morning rolls around and time is tight, simply popping a few pancakes in the microwave for about two minutes delivers a hot, homemade breakfast without the morning stress. Pair these with scrambled eggs to add a protein boost, keeping kids full and energized for their school day. For pancake mix, products like Krusteaz Light & Fluffy Buttermilk pancake mix are popular due to their convenience—just add water and cook. Buying in bulk from stores such as Costco can also be cost-effective for busy families. This parenting hack emphasizes meal prep and convenience without sacrificing nutrition or taste, helping parents simplify life while ensuring children have sturdy and satisfying breakfasts. It's a practical, time-saving trick that aligns with the busy routines of households with kids of varying ages, from toddlers to school-aged children.
