... Read moreDuring my academic journey, I learned that struggling with grades doesn't mean failure—it often signals the need for a change in approach. Like many students, I initially disliked studying and found myself turning to distractions like gaming, which only deepened my academic challenges. However, through trial and error, I discovered methods that transformed my learning experience. One key insight was the power of summarization. Creating concise summaries on post-it notes and sticking them on my notes helped me quickly access critical information without flipping through pages. This method not only saved time but also reinforced my understanding through active engagement with the material. Later, when I faced university-level content that was even more challenging and time-constrained, I adapted by making cheat sheets that condensed entire semesters into focused A4 sheets. This focused studying allowed me to grasp complex topics in a fraction of the usual time. Consistency played a huge role as well. Even when overwhelmed by side hustles and other commitments, dedicating focused bursts of study time—sometimes as little as 1.5 days per module before exams—proved effective. This approach taught me how to prioritize and manage my time efficiently. Another important lesson was embracing the liberation that comes with mastering your learning process. When I started to perform better and saw As on my transcript, the confidence boost was incredible. I realized I could tackle any subject if I approached it with the right strategies and mindset. For those struggling with grades, I recommend trying these techniques: summarize key points in compact forms, study actively instead of passively rereading, and don’t be afraid to change your study habits if something isn’t working. Remember, setbacks are stepping stones rather than roadblocks. If you’re an A-level student or facing similarly tough academic challenges, know that it’s okay to feel stuck sometimes. There’s still time to adjust your approach and improve. Joining communities or channels that share free study resources can also offer valuable support and inspiration. Ultimately, the journey to better grades is as much about personal growth and resilience as it is about academic performance.
