My first visit to Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings - East Village made a lasting impression so that when we passed the location on 📍St. Marks Place while looking for an easy meal, I was like YES, let's go! You come here for simple & tasty Shanghainese cuisine.
This spot is super versatile since you can definitely eat here for lunch, dinner, or even a late night bite since it’s open from 11am-2am every day.
In order of appearance:
1. SHANGHAI SIU MAI pork, shrimp, mushroom, glutinous rice
2. XIAO LONG BAO crab & pork
3. BOK CHOY stir fried with garlic
🍴Food: 6/10
- standout: XIAO LONG BAO inside filling is good but wrapping is a little too thick & not chewy enough
- SHANGHAI SIU MAI love the sticky texture, but could use a little more flavor
- definitely try some of their cold side dishes because I remember them being pretty solid
- skip: BOK CHOY needs more salt, and you can easily make this at home
