📍Librae Roundup/ Review
2nd is the best, right?
Librae is a close second to Radio Bakery. This means it's still VERY near and dear to my heart...I think about the banana danish maybe every other day. It probably hurts them to hear this, but it's tough competition out here!
My Ratings:
🍴Food: 7/10
- must order: BANANA DANISH wow just wow, ZAATAR MORNING BUN is for the savory girls & is so fun to unravel , CLASSIC CROISSANT is the best i’ve had in new york city
- not being enough chocolate in the PAN AU CHOCOLATE
- savory pastries & sandwiches don’t come close to Radio Bakery’s
- skip: SMOKED SALMON SANDWICH bread is way too dense, i prefer a lox bagel, TUNA SANDWICH you could make the same but better at home
🍸Drinks: 6/10
- TAHINI DATE LATTE is tasty, but not super memorable
✨Ambience: 7/10

Walking into Librae Bakery in NYC always feels like a little escape. While my heart might have a soft spot for Radio Bakery, Librae truly holds its own, especially when it comes to those unforgettable pastries. Let me dive deeper into what makes this spot a must-visit for any pastry lover, and some practical tips for your own visit. First off, let's talk about the absolute showstoppers. The Banana Danish? Oh, my goodness. It’s not just a pastry; it’s an experience. The way the cardamom caramel oozes, combined with the brûléed banana slices and candied sesame seeds, creates a symphony of flavors and textures that you won't find just anywhere. It’s rich, sweet, and perfectly balanced—definitely a standout among NYC bakery offerings. Then there's the Zaatar Morning Bun. For those who lean towards savory, this is your dream. The flaky layers, dusted with wild thyme and that creamy labneh, offer such a unique taste profile. It's savory, aromatic, and incredibly satisfying. And the Classic Croissant? My review called it the best I’ve had in New York City, and I stand by that. It’s buttery, airy, and has that perfect shatter when you bite into it—a true testament to their craft. Now, for a few items I've tried that didn't quite hit the mark for me, offering some alternatives. The Pan au Chocolat, while visually appealing with its glossy espresso glaze, left me wishing for more chocolate intensity. If you’re a chocolate croissant purist, you might find the espresso notes a bit too dominant. As for the sandwiches, the Smoked Salmon Sandwich on its everything pretzel bun, with creamy labneh, pickled onions, cucumbers, and dill, was a bit dense for my preference. If you're craving smoked salmon, I’d probably suggest sticking to a classic lox bagel elsewhere. Similarly, the Tuna Sandwich, with its olive oil herby tuna, sumac onions, dressed kale, and mayo-mustard on sourdough, felt like something I could easily recreate with a bit more flair at home. But Librae's menu extends beyond these. Don't miss out on their unique offerings like the Loomi Babka, a beautifully twisted buttery dough coated in black lime sugar and filled with tangy lemon curd—it's a delightful citrusy surprise. And for cookie lovers, their salted caramel & date oatmeal cookie and tahini chocolate cookie are both delicious, offering a comforting chewiness. They even have a sesame halva chocolate croissant for those looking for an adventurous twist on a classic. When you visit, you'll find the ambience quite pleasant. There's a decent amount of seating, making it suitable for a quick coffee or a relaxed pastry session. The service is straightforward: order at the counter and pick up at the other end. It’s efficient and usually friendly. If you're looking for one of the best handmade pastries in NYC, Librae Bakery definitely deserves a spot on your list. It’s a place that continually brings new, exciting flavors while mastering the classics. Just be prepared to dream about that Banana Danish long after you’ve left!
