I absolutely loved this spot! We came on a Friday late morning and no one was really there. Just as we were leaving lots of people started pouring in & that’s when the lines started! I was bummed that one of the booths was down, which was the only one we didn’t get to try (the other one we didn’t try was said to be a duplicate) and that they didn’t have the cute envelopes to store the photos in. There’s one digital photo booth among the many vintage ones, so have fun and take some great photos!! #photobooth #dateideas #thingstodoinla #vintagephotobooth #losangeles
If you’re a fan of vintage aesthetics and looking for a fun and memorable activity in Los Angeles, Photomatica in Silver Lake is definitely worth a visit. I went there recently and it turned out to be a charming spot that perfectly blends nostalgia with a unique date experience. One thing that stood out to me was the variety of actual vintage photo booths. Unlike modern digital setups, these machines give you an authentic feel of the old-school photo-taking process. There’s even one digital booth among the vintage collection, offering a modern twist for those who might prefer a faster or easier experience. When you take photos, be prepared for a short wait—about three to five minutes—for the pictures to develop. This wait time adds to the excitement and lets you savor the moment. Afterward, you can use the provided drying station to make sure the photos are completely dry before taking them home or turning them into keychains. These little keepsakes make fantastic souvenirs or gifts! While the experience is a bit pricey compared to standard photo booths, the fun and uniqueness make it worth it. My visit was on a late Friday morning, which was perfect timing since the place was quiet when we arrived but quickly got busy later. Arriving early definitely helps avoid long waits. A small downside I noticed was that some cute envelopes to store photos were unavailable during my visit, but other visitors mentioned they’re usually offered for free. Also, one of the vintage booths was out of order, but there was a duplicate booth with a different background as an alternative. If you’re searching for something different to do on a date, or just want to capture some fun vintage-style photos with friends or family, Photomatica is a delightful spot. Plus, being located in the vibrant Silver Lake neighborhood, you can easily explore nearby cafes and shops before or after your visit. Overall, Photomatica brings a nostalgic charm that’s rare to find nowadays, making it a great addition to your list of things to do in LA. Just remember to check their opening hours and try to come early to fully enjoy the experience without long lines!
