The Best App’s for Habit Formation
These are some of the best apps I use. They have helped me turn my lazy lifestyle into healthy habits for my mental and physical health!
1) RepCount - This helps me keep up with my workout routines and is also connected to my health app so everything gets logged automatically.
2) Notebook - I am horrible at journaling constantly or when things come up I need to deal with. This app helps me talk to text my notes and my thoughts without waiting to write them down.
3) Gratitude Plus - This can help you look at positive thoughts daily for a better mindset. I started one with my family so we could share positive words and happy moments together.
4) Bend - A yoga and stretching app that helps in different ways. It has sleep stretches, anxiety, and many more.
5) Insight Timer - Best meditation app that has a variety of different meditations that can suit any person no matter how hard sitting still is!
6) I Am Sober - This is a personal one I like to keep track of my sobriety days. I also found it useful to track my no nicotine habit, lets me look back on how far I’ve come.
7) Habit- I mainly use this app to track myself for progress and help me improve my productivity. For me when I was majorly depressed I found it hard to shower, but now I track it and I’m about to look back and be proud of myself and push me to do better.
8)Audible - Love this one for listening to books and podcasts. I am horrible at reading a physical copy of a book, I get distracted easily. So listening to different books while staying busy has been my go to.
9) MyFitnessPal - I use this app to track my calorie intake and create a goal for the weight and lifestyle I want to achieve. I track my food, water, steps and weight here. It is also connected to my health app so I can look at my calories needed and do not have to enter workouts manually.

Building lasting habits can be challenging, but using the right apps can make a huge difference. For me, integrating apps like RepCount and MyFitnessPal created an automated way to track workouts and nutrition, which took the guesswork out of daily fitness. RepCount’s connection to my health app meant all my exercise data logged seamlessly, motivating me to stick with my routines. Journaling with the Notebook app changed the game—being able to talk to text on the go eliminated the barrier of writing everything down. Taking mental notes was especially helpful on busy or stressful days when motivation was low. Gratitude Plus became a family ritual, sharing daily positive affirmations to nurture a better mindset collectively. It’s surprising how even brief moments of gratitude can shift your outlook and boost emotional resilience. For relaxation and mental health maintenance, the Bend yoga app offered targeted stretches and routines for sleep and anxiety relief, while Insight Timer provided diverse meditation programs suitable for even the busiest minds. Tracking sobriety milestones with I Am Sober was deeply personal and empowering. The ability to also monitor quitting nicotine helped me appreciate small victories and maintain motivation. The Habit app was a powerful tool for regaining productivity during tough times. Documenting progress on simple tasks like showering reminded me of my growth and encouraged me to keep pushing forward. Audible rescued me from the frustration of distracted reading; listening to audiobooks and podcasts enriched my knowledge and kept me engaged throughout the day. Overall, combining these apps helped me replace laziness with consistent, healthy habits. The key is finding tools that fit your lifestyle and using them to build momentum gradually. Apps that connect with health data or provide positive reinforcement can be especially effective in sustaining long-term changes. If you’re struggling to develop new habits, consider trying some of these apps to support your mental and physical well-being on a daily basis.
