Dromaeosaurus

Dromaeosaurus, which translates to "running lizard," is a significant dinosaur from the Dromaeosauridae family. Discovered by Barnum Brown in 1914, the fossils were found near the Red Deer River in Alberta, Canada. This small theropod measured approximately 2 meters in length and weighed around 16 kg. It was distinct for its feathers, sharp teeth, and sickle-like claws which it utilized to effectively hunt prey. The only known species is Dromaeosaurus albertensis, which thrived in the late Cretaceous. Evidence suggests Dromaeosaurus displayed a blend of social and solitary behaviors, which could have improved its hunting success. These predators were known to take down small vertebrates and occasionally larger prey, like Struthiomimus, using their speed and agility. Moreover, studies indicate a complex hunting strategy that involved using their feathers to confuse their prey before striking.
