I totally get it – when Loki gets all nestled against me, his little purrs vibrating, it truly feels like the most important thing in the world, far surpassing any adulting tasks on my to-do list. It's more than just a cat sleeping; it's a profound moment of comfort and affection. I often find myself just pausing, soaking in the warmth and the gentle rhythm of his breathing. There’s a special kind of peace that comes with having a creature you love so much trust you completely, enough to fall into a deep, peaceful sleep right in your arms. I’ve often wondered why Loki, or any cat really, chooses us over their comfy beds sometimes. From my own observations and a bit of reading, I think it's a mix of a few things. First, warmth! We're like little human heating pads, especially on a chilly day. Second, security. Being close to us makes them feel safe and protected, especially since they're most vulnerable when sleeping. And third, it's definitely a sign of affection and trust. When they choose to sleep so close, they're showing us how much they love us and feel connected. Plus, our scent is familiar and comforting to them. I remember one time, Loki had been a bit stressed after a vet visit, and for days, he barely left my side, sleeping curled up on my chest for hours. It was his way of finding comfort, and it made me feel so needed and loved. Those moments are truly precious. Sometimes, of course, nature calls, or I actually do have to get up. My trick? I try to gently shift and create a little 'nest' with a soft blanket or pillow right where he's sleeping, then ever so slowly, I try to slide out. Sometimes it works, sometimes I end up just accepting my fate as a cat bed for a little longer! And honestly, most of the time, I don't mind.
