book review!!
Hi fellow bookworms! I’m so excited to share a quick roundup of some books I’ve been diving into lately, and give you my personal take on each. I love keeping a running list of 'rating books I've read/am' currently enjoying, and this batch has definitely given me a lot to think about! First up, let's talk about the absolute phenomenon that is Heartstopper. If you've been wondering 'what is Heartstopper about,' let me tell you, it's so much more than just a graphic novel series. It's a truly heartwarming story about friendship, love, self-discovery, and navigating adolescence, especially as an LGBTQ+ teen. Charlie and Nick’s journey, which is truly 'where it all starts,' is just incredibly sweet and realistic. My 'Heartstopper book review' in a nutshell? It 'made me cry' multiple times, honestly! The 'really cute moments between Nick' and Charlie, coupled with their genuine emotional growth, just hit me right in the feels. It also subtly touches on themes that can genuinely help with 'self-esteem' and offers 'good childhood lessons' about acceptance and being true to yourself. Plus, 'I loved the mini comic at the end' – it's always such a treat! Overall, it’s 'a really great read' and I can't recommend it enough for anyone looking for a wholesome, feel-good story that also tackles important topics with grace. Next on my list is Guts by Raina Telgemeier. I have to say, 'I love the author' and her previous works, but 'Guts' was a bit different for me. The OCR mentioned 'didn't really understand' and 'why is everyone dying' – and while it's not literally about death, it does explore some heavy themes around anxiety and stomach issues. I think it 'brings out the truth of moving' through difficult emotions, but 'I couldn't relate to Raina's' specific struggles as much as I hoped. It ended up being a 'sad but happy, you know?' kind of read for me, with a powerful message about facing fears. Then there’s the epic world of Warriors. My experience with this series is a bit chaotic; I've 'read multiple times because I kept forgetting what happened'! It’s a huge world with so many characters that sometimes 'I cannot remember who is who,' but that's part of the fun. The stories are so engaging and often quite 'kind of sad,' but they build 'good relation'ships and intense adventures. 'I love Nat' and many of the other characters who show incredible bravery and loyalty. There are always 'amazing plot twists' and a 'CRAZY turnout in the end' that keeps you on your toes! Finally, I dipped into some classic Goosebumps. Honestly, with some of these, I was thinking, 'what is even happening'?! The plots can be wild and wonderfully bizarre. But 'pretty good tbh' for a quick, spooky read. 'Bro has a weird villain ark' is definitely an accurate description for some of the antagonists you encounter! They're perfect for a nostalgic trip down memory lane or for a fun, light scare. Reading through these has been such a journey, from emotional highs to spooky thrills. What have you been reading lately? I'm always looking for new recommendations!
