Struggles happen —
Today was hard, my family fought a lot and I had to put out a lot of fires. Playing mediator isn’t something I ever really wanted to have in a family role, but I’m a good negotiator. The best thing I did for myself was make a plan and stick to it.
Did that make today easy? No. But, what it did do was allow me space to give myself grace. I still got everything done that I needed to do, which meant I had emotional availability for the people I love. This isn’t an easy practice, but remembering patience is a virtue — is incredibly important.
In order to have joy, we must feel pain. We simply couldn’t know one from the other, without both. I’m grateful for my family, for the people I love. Some days are easier than others, but I’m thankful that I’m here.
