Experience LOLAY’s playful take in “Lek-Heng-Yum”
Lek-Heng-Yum (เล็กแห้งยำ), a phrase derived from the way staff in Thai noodle shops shorten the order before passing it to the kitchen, becomes LOLAY’s exhibition title and its main visual element. Through his line drawings, there is his signature sense of playfulness, which is a notable quality in illustration-based artwork. In contrast with the seriousness in issue-centric artwork, LOLAY’s works are light-hearted, ticklish, and may be exactly what we need in the fast and messy world we are living in.
Lek-Heng-Yum (เล็กแห้งยำ) รูปแบบคำที่พนักงานร้านก๋วยเตี๋ยวใช้ย่อออเดอร์จากลูกค้าก่อนจะส่งไปครัวนี้เป็นชื่อนิทรรศการของ LOLAY และยังเป็นองค์ประกอบทางทัศนะอันหลักด้วย ภาพลายเส้นของเขามี ความขี้เล่นอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของทั้งตัวเขาเองและของงานศิลปะที่มีศาสตร์ของภาพประกอบเป็นพื้นฐาน (Illustration-based) แตกต่างจากความจริงจังของงานศิลปะที่เน้นประเด็นสังคม (Issue-centric) ผลงานของ LOLAY มีความสบายๆ สนุกสนาน และอาจจะเป็นสิ่งที่เราต้องการอย่างยิ่งในโลกที่รวดเร็วและวุ่นวายนี้
