Unexpected Visit, is closed
I stumbled across Cat & People Café on multiple platforms, and everything online pointed to it being open. I even checked the reviews, someone had commented just a week ago, so I decided to make the trip.
After a 45-minute drive, I arrived feeling excited… only to be met with shock and disappointment. The café was completely closed and undergoing renovations, seemingly preparing to shut down for good. That moment really hit hard.
Surprisingly though, even though the café was closed, there was still a space where the cats remained inside. Seeing how upset we were, a kind lady approached us and warmly invited us in for free. The café itself felt rundown, dim, and quiet, but she brought us into a room where the cats were still roaming around.
For a few short minutes, I got to interact with them gentle, well-behaved cats of all kinds: long tails, short tails, kittens, and adults. None of them were afraid; they were calm, affectionate, and comfortable around people. I spent those moments petting and playing with them, fully present.
While it was disappointing not to experience the café as it once was, I’m grateful for that small, unexpected encounter. Even if it was brief, I’m glad I got to meet and pet a few of the cats before Cat & People Café closes for good. Sometimes, the most meaningful experiences come in the most unexpected ways.
