Baku 🥺
Okay, so who else has tried to maintain their #summerbod goals while traveling? Because let me tell you, my recent trip to Baku was a hilarious test of willpower! I went in with the best intentions – visions of beach-ready abs and disciplined workouts. But then, Baku happened. From the moment I landed, the aroma of local delights was just… relentless. Forget my meticulously planned meal prep; the smell of Qutab and Plov from every corner cafe was a siren call I could barely resist. I mean, how do you say no to freshly baked bread, delicious kebabs, and those incredible pakhlava pastries when you're exploring a vibrant new city? My 'healthy eating' plan quickly morphed into 'experiencing local cuisine, mostly.' And honestly, no regrets on the taste front! My attempts at staying active were equally amusing. I tried jogging along the Caspian Sea boulevard, feeling all athletic and dedicated, only to get distracted by street performers and stunning architecture. My 'cardio' turned into 'sightseeing at a brisk walk,' which, let's be real, is still something! There was even one morning I tried to do an outdoor yoga session in a park, only to be joined by a very curious stray cat who decided my mat was the perfect napping spot. It's hard to hold a warrior pose when you're trying not to disturb a feline friend! Then there was the gym situation. I found a local gym, all ready to smash a workout. Picture this: me, trying to figure out unfamiliar machines, probably looking like a confused tourist mimic, while the locals effortlessly lifted serious weight. It was humbling, to say the least, and definitely gave me a good laugh at myself. The biggest #bodytransformation I experienced might not have been purely physical. It was more about transforming my perspective. Instead of stressing over every calorie or missed workout, I embraced the adventure. I walked miles exploring the Old City, climbed up to the Flame Towers, and danced to live music. My 'summer bod' goal shifted from a strict physical ideal to a feeling of being vibrant, energetic, and fully immersed in the experience. Did I come back with six-pack abs? Probably not the kind I set out for! But I came back with incredible memories, fantastic stories, and a renewed appreciation for travel and self-acceptance. Sometimes, the best 'transformation' is enjoying life and laughing at your own mishaps along the way. If you're ever in Baku, prepare for your diet plans to be thoroughly, delightfully challenged – but trust me, it's worth every delicious bite and every laugh!
