Edwin was bouta go bald 😭

... Read moreOkay, so you guys saw my last post about almost going bald? Seriously, it was a close call! I thought I'd share a bit more about what actually happened and what I've learned since then. It all started when my friend, let's call him Gabe (you know who you are, man!), offered to give me a quick trim. Now, I love Gabe, but maybe 'barber' isn't his best talent, haha! He meant well, but let's just say a 'trim' turned into a serious contemplation of ordering some Rogaine. I saw the hair piling up, and it was not a good look. I literally thought, 'Edwin, bro, do not let Gabe cut your hair ever again!' My hairline was definitely feeling the stress. This whole incident made me think a lot about hair health. It's not just about a bad haircut, but also about how we take care of our hair daily. I've been doing some research, and here are a few things I've picked up since my 'almost bald' moment: First, hydration is key! Just like our bodies, our hair needs moisture. I’ve started using a really good leave-in conditioner a couple of times a week. It makes such a difference in how my hair feels and looks. Dry hair is more prone to breakage, and trust me, after my Gabe-induced scare, I'm trying to hold onto every strand! Second, be gentle with your hair. No aggressive towel drying or brushing when wet. Wet hair is super fragile. I used to just rough it up with a towel, but now I gently pat it dry. It sounds small, but these little changes add up. Third, watch your diet. This might sound cliché for #healthylifestyle2024, but what you eat really does impact your hair. Foods rich in protein, iron, and vitamins (especially Biotin and Vitamin D) are supposed to be great for hair growth and strength. I’ve been trying to incorporate more leafy greens and lean protein into my meals. And speaking of products, I've also been looking into the pH balance of my shampoos and conditioners. Apparently, hair and scalp have a natural pH, and using products that are too alkaline or acidic can disrupt it, leading to dryness or damage. I’m no chemist, but finding products that are pH-balanced seems like a good step. It's a small detail, but it makes sense! Finally, find a good, trusted barber or stylist. Don't let just anyone near your precious locks! My experience with Gabe was a hilarious lesson, but it showed me the importance of going to someone who knows what they're doing. A professional can also give you tips tailored to your hair type. So, yeah, my hair journey has officially begun. From almost going bald to trying to keep it healthy and strong. What are your best hair care tips? Share them in the comments, I'd love to hear them! Let's keep our manes looking fresh in 2024!
