Chem p2

Good news first or bad news first??

Depends on how you perceive them I guess. Perhaps realising that i forgot a very high in necessity calculator for a chem exam! Only realising once taking my stuff out of my bag and heading to examination seating arrangement… LIKE HELPSSSS 🤡

THANK YOU SOSOSO MUCH saviour for lending me your calculator!!! 🙏 Even though I don’t even know you and that we were heading into the slaughterhouse, thy have graced me with kindness 💖Otherwise I would have dipped my chem into some misery instead of mistry. (Get it? Chemistry hehe)

Talking about chemistry reminds me of the extreme slump I had for studying it during the past weekend… Used to describe myself liking chem and would definitely plus chop have a future with it but erm 2023 p2 scarred me…

I cannot appreciate enough the people that cheered me on this journey to rekindle thy chemistry for this chemistry. 💕💕💕

Oh and actuallyyy(insert meme) i have resorted to watching tys videos done by school teachers instead of doing them… Helps im becoming one of those people that are over reliant on tech AHAHHAHAHA 😭

Succeeding this rant would be even more goofy stuff that happened in the slaughterhouse(exam hall). I had a random ruler 📏 slapped on my table at the last 30 minutes of the exam. Like ??? Moreover, it is some neon green smiggle one with a name sticker THAT IS NOT MINE 💀💀💀. I clearly have some translucent oxford ruler that is on a table and a thoughtful teacher thought I needed another… Overcoming the shock of having someone’s ruler on my table with that HUHHH plane polarised angle thingy was not it. 😔 Only after the exam then the dood in front of me turned around to collect the passed down data booklet, then the freaking culprit took his ruler back with him. HOW DID THE RULER ROLL TO MY SEAT??? Pencil or pen? I can understand lah cos its sort of round but a ruler???? I’m gone

Oh and some people idk whether people is even a word to describe them, threw paper planes with the rough paper after their paper was collected. Bro are we in kindergarten? Ah yes paper plane competitions after exams yipppe 🙄 Of course they got caught and called to the presiding examiner with their entry proof. Shocked that these people are in the same school as me, kind of considering my IQ right now…

Overall i felt that this paper wasn’t really difficult in terms of knowledge but more of tricky and i got tricked T^T Around 5 marks down the drain

2/5 Let's not forget the jumpscare of 7 questions ?!?!

ps. Do you think that the yellow thing in the picture is a tofu or a potato? Comment down below!!🙃

... Read moreReflecting on my recent chemistry exam experience, I realized how crucial it is to prepare both mentally and practically before the big day. Forgetting a calculator was a nightmare I never expected, but the kindness of a fellow student reminded me how important it is to stay calm. In addition to having all the necessary tools, grasping challenging topics like the Born Haber cycle or tricky exercises from past papers can dramatically improve confidence. When studying for Chemistry Elective 2, watching teachers’ video solutions and utilizing online resources like Khan Academy can make complicated content easier to digest. I found that learning through these videos helped me understand tough concepts without feeling overwhelmed. Another important aspect is time management during the exam. Unexpected distractions, like random items appearing on your desk or fellow students' antics, can throw you off. Staying focused despite these disturbances is key to performing well. Also, I learned to appreciate the support system around me — peers who cheer you on, help you understand difficult problems, and make study sessions enjoyable. Chemistry might be tricky, but with the right mindset and resources, anyone can build their confidence and tackle even the hardest problems. Finally, a little humor and sharing exam stories make this stressful journey more relatable. Whether it’s mixing up physics and chemistry terms in a riddle or debating if a yellow object looks like tofu or a potato, enjoying small moments eases the pressure. Remember, every chemistry exam is a step toward mastering the subject, so keep going! Hope my experience encourages you to prepare well, stay positive during exams, and cherish the unexpected kindness along the way.

H2 Chemistry - Period 3 Oxides
Every JC student knows the pattern: Na₂O basic, MgO basic, SiO₂ neutral, P₄O₁₀ acidic. Memorise and regurgitate, right? But there's a reason the pH swings this hard across one period. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. 👇 The actual rule: → Ionic oxides are basic → Covalent oxides
