Thank you to everyone who watches and supports my content.
I'm also only a few watch hours away from full channel monetization so watch some of my videos if you haven't. They're good to nap to.

... Read moreWow, what an incredible journey it's been to reach this YouTube milestone! Seeing that '4,001 total subscribers' count in my YouTube Studio really hit differently. It feels like just yesterday I was struggling to get my first hundred. For anyone else on this path, I wanted to share a bit about what I learned and how I'm pushing through to hit those final monetization numbers.
First off, let's talk about the big two: 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 valid public watch hours in the last 365 days. These numbers can seem huge when you're just starting out, but they are achievable with persistence. The subscriber count, for me, was a slow burn. It wasn't about one viral video, but consistent uploads and really trying to connect with the people who commented. Responding to every comment, asking questions in my videos, and just being myself helped build that community. I found that when people feel like they're part of something, they're more likely to hit that subscribe button.
The watch hours, though, that's a different beast! As my YouTube Studio screenshot shows, I’m currently at '3,655 out of 4,000 valid public watch hours.' This means I'm so close, but every single minute counts. What I've learned about watch hours is that it's not just about getting views, but getting long views. Shorter, punchy videos are great for engagement, but longer-form content (think 10-20 minutes) tends to really rack up those watch times. I’ve started focusing on content that keeps people engaged for longer, like in-depth tutorials or story-time videos. Also, don't forget to push your existing content! Sometimes, an old video might just need a little boost in an end screen or a card to get more eyes on it.
Tracking your progress is super important for motivation. The 'Monetization' tab in YouTube Studio is your best friend. It gives you a clear overview of where you stand with both subscribers and watch hours. Seeing those bars fill up, even slowly, keeps you going. When I saw my watch hours climb from 3,000 to '3,655,' it was such a morale booster. It helps you understand what's working and what might need a tweak. Remember, Shorts watch hours don't count towards the 4,000, so keep that in mind if you're mixing content types. Only public watch hours from eligible videos are considered.
It's definitely a marathon, not a sprint. There were days I felt like giving up, wondering if I'd ever get to 1,000 subs, let alone 4,000 watch hours. But every small step forward is a victory. If you're on this creator journey, keep creating, keep learning, and keep engaging. You'll get there too! I'm genuinely excited to officially join the YouTube Partner Program soon and see what new opportunities it brings. Your support means the world!
