A Mixed Experience at the Reopened Vessel 🏙️🍯

#lemon8christmas #lemon8contest #lemon8creator #localfinds #lemon8challenge

Following a three-year closure due to multiple accidents, the iconic honeycomb-shaped structure at Hudson Yards in NYC, referred to as the Vessel, has reopened with new safety nets in place.

The admission charge is $10, yet it's waived for NYC residents every Thursday. Security checks were conducted, my big brother unfortunately had to undergo 3 rounds until he was cleared, which was inconvenient.

Finally, my big brother and I, entered the base level where we were welcomed by a maze of staircases and reflective brass. A few staff members were there, overseeing.

By the time we ascended to the third layer, we observed netting enveloping the external edges of the Vessel. On the fourth tier, the netting was obstructing the interior side.

Some areas were off limits because of the new netting and gates, and the further we ascended, the less space there was to wander.

On the seventh story (one below the top), guests are only permitted on a small platform facing south, offering a somewhat obstructed city view. The topmost level is entirely closed off.

Since, I had a fracture on my right foot, there was a lift to descend, it only accommodates 6 individuals at once and operates every 15 minutes

... Read moreThe Vessel's reopening marks a significant moment for both tourists and locals. After its closure due to safety concerns, the addition of new safety nets aims to enhance visitor security. The admission fee of $10, waived for NYC residents on Thursdays, encourages more people to enjoy this remarkable structure. With its honeycomb shape and intricate staircase design, the Vessel offers a unique architectural experience. However, visitors should be aware of the restrictions imposed by the netting and off-limit areas as they explore the various levels. Despite the limitations, the views from the accessible platforms provide a captivating perspective of the surrounding area, including Hudson Yards and the larger NYC skyline. Although the highest tier is currently closed off, the journey through the Vessel remains enjoyable. For those with mobility challenges, the lift makes it easier to navigate the structure. Overall, visiting the Vessel is not just about the climb; it’s about immersing oneself in a distinctive design that represents modern public space. A visit here can be a meaningful experience for urban explorers and those interested in contemporary architecture.
