Why we choose NFP
For those of you who may not know NFP, stands for natural family planning. There are all sorts of methods that work best for individual couples, such as basal body temperature, observing cervical mucus, or using a fertility monitor. all these methods are used to help women be aware of their own fertility. My husband and I have been married a year. We began our marriage 100% open to life and future babies. However we considered the logistics of finances, housing, insurance and so on. Knowing my cycle so intricately empowered us to pray and discern through each cycle. We both knew we didn’t want to use artificial contraceptives. Using a completely natural method not only did i understand my cycle better but understand my body. I learned about foods that benefit healthy fertility, i learned about how stress affects a mucus cycle and so much more. The best part we didn’t feel like we had to cross our fingers to tight one way or the other, it only increased our trust in God, His timing, and each other. Achieving this Pregnancy is and continues to be a gift. NFP brought us closer to God and helped us to work with him and trust in his perfect timing. Even if you’re not in a place to have children or you think you don’t need it. learning to chart your cycle goes beyond fertility, it helps you have a better understanding of acne, hormonal weight changes, mood, and even your gut health. As a woman it’s so important you know your body, know what it needs and get to know her beyond what’s on the outside. I can’t imagine my husband and i discerning our family in any other way.
Natural Family Planning (NFP) is more than just a method for achieving pregnancy; it’s a holistic approach to understanding one’s body and cycles. This method teaches couples to recognize the natural signs of fertility, using techniques like basal body temperature tracking and monitoring cervical mucus. These practices not only facilitate family planning but also enhance knowledge about reproductive health, which can lead to healthier lifestyle choices. Many couples choose NFP because it allows them to avoid artificial contraceptives, thereby developing a deeper connection with each other and their faith. NFP encourages open communication within relationships and aligns with the belief that life is a gift. By practicing NFP, individuals can cultivate patience and trust in the journey of starting a family. The benefits of understanding one’s fertility extend beyond family planning. Practicing NFP can help women identify issues related to hormonal imbalances, such as acne and mood fluctuations, and adjust their diets accordingly to improve overall health. Knowing one’s cycle can lead to better management of stress levels, ultimately contributing to improved wellbeing. Overall, NFP is a valuable tool not just for achieving pregnancy, but for gaining insight into one’s health and promoting strong partnerships based on mutual understanding and respect for natural processes.
