Build the Life. Keep yourself.
I’ve done it the other way.
The overgiving. The overextending. The pushing past myself just to make something work.
And I’m not doing that anymore.
If I can’t be me in what I’m building…
I don’t want it.
Simple.
And if you’ve been feeling like you have to choose—
between success and yourself…
You don’t.
You can build something meaningful
and not lose yourself in the process.
Your health matters.
Your mental health matters.
Your sense of self matters.
You don’t have to abandon yourself to build something that works.
You can honor yourself and build at the same time.
You can do both.

From personal experience, I can attest that balancing ambition and self-care isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary for long-term fulfillment. Many times, I found myself pushing too hard—trying to meet others' expectations or chase an ideal of success that ignored my own limits. This led to burnout and loss of joy in what I was creating. Eventually, I realized the importance of setting boundaries and honoring my own needs. When building something meaningful—whether a business, a creative project, or personal goals—it’s vital to keep your mental health in focus. Overgiving or overextending can feel like dedication, but it often comes at the cost of your well-being and sense of self. Instead, taking time to rest and recharge enables you to sustain creativity and productivity without sacrificing who you are. One way I incorporate this mindset is by regularly checking in with myself—asking if my work aligns with my values and if I’m still being authentic in what I build. If the answer is no, I adjust my approach. This honesty helps prevent losing myself in the process. Remember, your health and mental health truly matter just as much as your success. Ultimately, you don’t have to choose between achievement and authenticity. Building success and keeping yourself intact is possible—and rewarding. It’s about embracing rest, setting boundaries, and honoring the unique person you are throughout your journey.
