Sheglam Hydro-Touch Refreshing Setting Powder

✨ Overview

This is a very unique loose powder that focuses on a cooling, wet-feel application with a natural, blurred finish. It is meant to help set makeup while controlling shine and giving the skin a fresh look, though results can vary a lot depending on skin type and how it is applied.

✨ My Experience

This powder is honestly very interesting. Visually, it looks like a very fine pink loose powder, but once you touch it, it feels wet and cooling. That part really surprised me.

Because it is a pink powder, it runs quite bright. If you apply too much or use it all over the face, it can make the skin look flat or slightly fake since everything becomes very bright and blurred. The powder is extremely fine, so when you apply it, you can actually see powder dust floating in the air.

The finish is a bit strange. Right after applying, the skin feels dry, almost like the wet texture sets and dries down. After a while, it starts to feel slightly sticky instead. Visually, the skin looks very smooth, blurred, and brightened, which I like, but it can also cover up all the work you did on your base and make the face look flat.

I noticed that powders with this kind of super-blurring effect often need extra steps. After setting, you really have to add back dimension with powder contour, blush, and highlight. I would not recommend using this as a touch-up powder later in the day.

It did not disturb or lift my base like some people mentioned online, but at the same time, I cannot really say this works especially well for oily or dry skin. It feels drying at first, then slightly sticky later, so it sits somewhere in between.

✨ Packaging

I do not like the packaging. The lid is separate from the container, but there is an extra inner lip that makes pouring out powder awkward. On top of that, the netting over the powder makes it very hard to pick up product. I have to push my brush or sponge quite deep to get enough powder, and over time, the net starts to loosen.

I thought about removing the net, but without it, too much product would probably come out. This is a powder where less is definitely more, especially since it gives quite a full, blurred finish. The pink packaging is cute, but the usability could be much better.

✨ Final Thoughts

This is a very unique powder and fun to try, but it definitely has a learning curve. I like the blurred effect, but it can easily make the face look flat if you are not careful. The texture and finish are unusual, and it may not suit everyone. For the price, it is interesting, but I would treat this more as an experimental product rather than a foolproof everyday powder.

... Read moreFrom my experience, one key to making the Sheglam Hydro-Touch Refreshing Setting Powder work well is finding the right balance in application. Because it brightens so much, using too much can easily make your face appear overly flat or artificial, especially on combination or oily skin types. I found that using a light hand and focusing on the T-zone helped control shine without losing dimension. This powder's unique texture starts out cooling and wet to the touch, then dries down to a dry, slightly sticky feel. Due to this unusual finish, I recommend pairing it with some contouring or blush to add back the natural shadows and warmth that the powder tends to mute. Without these steps, your base makeup may appear blurred to the point of losing character. Regarding concerns about pore clogging, I did not experience breakouts or worsened skin texture from using this powder regularly. However, as with any product, it's best to observe your skin's response over time. Also, the fine dusting effect means careful application is essential to avoid powder getting into unwanted areas or settling unevenly. One downside I faced was the packaging. The powder comes with a net that makes it difficult to pick up the product easily, and the extra inner lip complicates pouring. Since the powder is so finely milled, less is definitely more to avoid cakiness. I personally avoid removing the net to prevent waste but wish the design was more user-friendly. Overall, if you're curious about a setting powder that offers a novel wet-feel, cooling touch, and brightening pink tint, this affordable option is worth experimenting with. It's not a one-step wonder but a fun product to play with if you don't mind the learning curve and want to add a fresh blur effect to your makeup routine.
