Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion @ the MET
These pieces were some of my favorite from the MET’s Sleeping Beauties exhibit. It took my mom and I just over an hour to look at each item in the exhibit, also, it was free with admission! Hands down one of my favorite experiences in New York, and really fueled my love for fashion, especialllly historic and vintage pieces. The experience was immersive, and boasted a section where you could rub and smell the wall to release perfumes from the early 1900s, preserved by the clothing that has been kept since that time. The exhibit was available from May-September of last year, sponsored by Loewe. These aren’t even all of my favs, but definitely some of the showstoppers! The Dior garden mini dress sculpture has my heart 😍

The MET's Sleeping Beauties exhibit was not only visually stunning but also an immersive journey into the world of fashion history. Visitors had the unique opportunity to experience scents from the past, including perfumes from the early 1900s—perfectly preserved in clothing. Christian Dior's influence, especially through the 'Miss Dior' dress, became a highlight of the exhibit. Known for its exquisite floral embroidery and intricate design, the dress symbolizes the elegance and artistry of couture. Dior’s connection to Impressionism shone through in many pieces, giving guests a taste of an era defined by beauty and artistry. The museum's commitment to accessible exhibits made this experience even more enjoyable, as many highlights were free with admission. With fashion lovers mingling amid priceless artifacts, the exhibit was a delightful blend of art, history, and innovation. Whether you adore vintage fashion or simply want to soak up New York's vibrant culture, the Sleeping Beauties exhibit offered something for everyone, reminding us of the timeless allure of fashion.
