Lost your wallet⁉️🚨 READ THIS!!!

If you were like me and accidentally left your wallet / items on the bus, or lost it anywhere else in SG, here’s what to do!! 💡

TLDR I had a whole day of stress with finding out different avenues on how to investigate where my wallet went and worrying if it was stolen!! Hence this is a post that encapsulates all that I tried and methods I found that offered some solace 🫂

‼️ to add on to the post, I mentioned waiting a bit after inactivating your NRIC before you apply for a new one. After I got back my wallet, I wrote in to ICA to ask if they could reactivate my NRIC and they accepted the appeal!!! Hence I did not need to pay the $100 😆

The biggest thank you to the Good Samaritan who ended up returning my wallet safe and sound 🥹

✨ Remember to always be kind!!

P.s. Some photos are from _nguan_ on IG!! Do check them out, they have a wonderful spread of similar photos 💫

... Read moreLosing your wallet in Singapore can feel overwhelming, but there are effective ways to handle the situation calmly and efficiently. First, try to retrace your steps immediately and note any important details, such as the bus number, license plate, and time you boarded or alighted. Contacting the relevant bus operator (like SMRT or Tower Transit) as soon as possible allows their lost-and-found team to check the buses at their terminals. Acting quickly improves your chances of getting your wallet back. Filing a police report is another important step, especially if your wallet contains sensitive documents like your NRIC. Although the investigation can take time due to CCTV checks, having an official report is necessary for record-keeping and potential insurance claims. It also helps authorities monitor reported lost items. When it comes to credit cards, reach out to your bank immediately. Some banks, such as OCBC, offer temporary deactivation options, giving you flexibility without the hassle of permanently canceling your cards. This reduces the risk of unauthorized usage while you arrange replacements. Regarding your NRIC, the standard advice is to deactivate it on the ICA website to prevent identity theft. However, as I learned from personal experience, wait before applying for a new NRIC. In some cases, ICA may reactivate your card upon an appeal if your lost wallet is recovered intact, saving you application fees. Finally, never underestimate the kindness of strangers. In my case, a Good Samaritan returned my wallet personally, restoring my faith in communal goodwill. Sharing this story highlights the importance of kindness and staying hopeful during such stressful moments. Remember to stay calm, keep track of details, and utilize official channels to improve your chances of recovering your lost wallet safely in Singapore.
