Hey beautiful souls! If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably felt that tug—the desire to grow closer to God while also taking care of your body. It’s easy to feel like these are two separate journeys, but what if I told you they could be beautifully intertwined? That’s exactly what I discovered with my approach to “devotional exercise.” For so long, I struggled to be consistent with both my spiritual disciplines and my fitness. I’d start strong, only to find myself falling off track a few weeks later. But then I realized: why not combine them? Why not create a synergy where my physical movement actually deepens my spiritual connection? That's when my faith-based morning routine transformed, incorporating elements like prayer, devotion, and yes, exercise! Why Devotional Exercise? Think about it: our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Taking care of them is an act of worship. When we intentionally bring God into our workouts, exercise becomes more than just burning calories; it becomes a moving prayer, a time of reflection, and a way to honor Him with our whole being. It’s about building habits that truly match our spiritual assignment, as the original post mentioned. How to Integrate Devotional Exercise into Your Day: Start with Prayer & Devotion: Before you even think about lacing up your sneakers, spend 5-10 minutes in prayer or reading a short devotional. This sets the tone for your spirit and mind. As my "PLAN FAITH BASED MORNING ROUTINE" suggests, this is non-negotiable. Give God your first fruits of time. Mindful Movement: Not all exercises lend themselves equally to devotion, but many do! Consider: Walking/Jogging: This is my favorite. As I walk, I can pray, listen to worship music, or even tune into a "CHRISTIAN GIRL PODCAST" like 'Saved Not Soft' or 'Woman Evolve'. It’s amazing how much clearer my thoughts become and how easy it is to have a conversation with God when I’m moving in nature. Stretching/Yoga: Gentle movements can be incredibly meditative. Focus on your breath and dedicate each stretch or pose to a scripture or a specific prayer request. You can even use an app like Abide (as suggested for 'TAKE INTENTIONAL TIME TO BE STILL') for guided Christian meditations during your cool-down. Weight Training: While more intense, you can still infuse devotion. Between sets, pause for a quick prayer of gratitude for your strength or to focus on a scripture that encourages perseverance. Use Your Prayer Journal: After your devotional exercise, take a few moments to "CREATE A PRAYER JOURNAL." Jot down any insights, scriptures that came to mind, or prayers you lifted during your workout. This helps solidify your experience and tracks your spiritual and physical growth, making it a truly holistic practice. Connect with Sisters: Remember the importance of having sisters who actually check in? Share your devotional exercise journey in your "WEEKLY SMALL GROUP MEETUPS." Accountability is a powerful tool for consistency and encouragement. Knowing others are on a similar path can keep you motivated. Integrating devotional exercise isn't about perfection; it's about intention. It's about showing up, even on days when you don't feel like it, and inviting God into every aspect of your well-being. It’s transformed my spiritual walk and my physical health, and I truly believe it can do the same for you. Let's make our habits match our assignments! 🌸☕️
