How to get the job w/ no experience!
I may not have had “direct experience”.. but I had TONS of transferable skills!
I took a small break from childcare as I was configuring some medical problems. I’m studying Human Resource Management so I wanted to find a entry level job in that field. I knew I could do the work but 25+ jobs denied me due to lack of experience or not having a degree.. UNTIL, i made these changes!!! (After making these changes, i scheduled back-to-back interviews, received multiple offers and could finally choose the offer I wanted to accept 👏🏽)
1) UPDATE YOUR RESUME to reflect that your skills/experience are a match for the role! For example: Did you “upload student information to an app” OR 👉🏽 “Input student information into an online child management application; ensuring a strong attention to detail to avoid errors”… 👀 🤔 if the role requires you to have a “strong attention to detail” or requires “data entry” skills, utilizing those KEYWORDS will catch their attention.
2) PREPARE FOR THE INTERVIEW: study the job description and create prep notes for yourself. These prep notes should ensure that you are able to answer the behavioral questions and describe your TRANSFERABLE SKILLS that shows you are able to perform the duties of the role.
3) BE OPEN TO ENTRY LEVEL OPPORTUNITIES! My long-term goal is to obviously move up in the hierarchy of human resources. Of course, I have to work my way up there with continuing my education and gaining experience in the field. So starting out, I utilized my transferable skills from my years in the education field to make me successful. The experience that I am gaining will make me successful in my future endeavors with HR.
