FIGHT IF YOU WILL
Hey everyone! I know a lot of you might be stuck on the Murong Yuan boss fight in When Winds Meet, just like I was for a while. That guy is no joke! After many attempts, I finally figured out a solid strategy to face him head-on and come out victorious. If you’re tired of seeing the ‘Defeat Murong Yuan’ prompt with a ‘Time limited’ countdown, here’s what worked for me. First off, preparation is key. Before you even think about entering the Murong Yuan encounter, make sure your gear is up to par. Upgrade your weapons and armor as much as possible. Don't skip side quests or 'Lost Chapter' missions if they offer better loot or skill points. Every little bit helps. Also, stack up on healing items! You’ll definitely need them, especially if you're not perfectly executing dodges and parries. During the fight itself, Murong Yuan has a few signature moves you absolutely need to learn. He has a very aggressive style, so staying defensive initially and observing his patterns is crucial. Pay close attention to his wind-up animations. He often telegraphs his heavy attacks with a noticeable pause or a change in stance. This is your cue to either dodge or attempt a deflection. The 'Skip Deflection Assist' feature from the game's settings can be a double-edged sword. If you’re new to deflection mechanics or find them tricky, keeping it on might give you some leeway. However, mastering manual deflections will give you significant openings and reduce the damage you take. Practice makes perfect, and this boss is a great training dummy for it! When you see 'Panel Actions' appear on screen, react quickly! These are often critical parry opportunities or evasive maneuvers that can turn the tide of the fight. Missing them usually results in heavy damage. One of his most annoying moves is a rapid combo attack. It's fast, and if you get caught, he can chain multiple hits. For this, I found that dodging into the first hit (or slightly to the side) often put me in a better position to avoid the rest of the combo, rather than trying to dodge backward. After his combos, there's usually a small window where he's vulnerable. This is your chance to get in a few quick hits. Don't get greedy! Just a couple of strikes, then be ready to back off or defend again. He also has an area-of-effect (AoE) attack that covers a decent radius. When you see him charge up for this, prioritize getting away. It’s better to lose a few seconds of attacking time than to take massive damage from this move. The fight can feel like a 'Time limited' challenge because of how quickly he can wear you down, so managing your health and stamina is vital. Don't be afraid to create distance to use a healing item if you're low. Finally, the key to truly defeating Murong Yuan is patience and persistence. Learn from every mistake. Each time you get knocked down, try to understand what went wrong. Was it a missed deflection? A poorly timed dodge? Getting too aggressive? This isn't just about button mashing; it's about understanding the rhythm of the fight. Keep at it, and you'll eventually master his patterns and finally conquer this challenging boss in your 'Main Story' Campaign. Good luck!
