I didn’t realise quite how much I missed riding my TT until today 🥹 #triathlon
Getting back on my time trial (TT) bike after some time away was more impactful than I imagined. The mix of physical challenge and mental joy reminded me why I love triathlon so much. The route was filled with numerous hills, pushing my endurance and strength, especially as I was still recovering from jet lag which added to the fatigue. Fueling properly was key—I relied heavily on maple-flavored energy gels, a staple in my nutrition pack, along with oats and bananas for sustained energy. These foods helped me maintain a steady pace and kept cramps at bay while burning almost 950 calories over nearly 49 kilometers. For anyone returning to cycling after a break or jet lag, pacing yourself on hills and paying attention to nutrition is crucial. I found focusing on manageable segments of the ride and taking small breaks for nourishment made the effort feel rewarding rather than exhausting. Sharing my experience might encourage others not to be discouraged by setback periods—they can come back stronger with the right mindset and fueling strategy. The breathtaking bike views and accomplishment of conquering hills were worth every pedal stroke.
