how I get this blowout

Okay, so you guys loved my last post about my hair, and I've been getting SO many DMs asking how I achieve that perfect, bouncy blowout look! Honestly, it's all about the post-curling routine, specifically how I take out my curls after they've set. It's truly a game-changer for volume and longevity. First things first, I always start with freshly washed hair. I use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner, then towel-dry gently. Heat protection is non-negotiable, so I spray a generous amount of my favorite heat protectant all over. After that, I roughly blow-dry my hair until it's about 80% dry – you want it slightly damp for styling, but not soaking wet. Now for the curling part! I use a 1.25-inch curling iron (my absolute fave for this look) and section my hair carefully. I curl away from my face, holding each curl for about 10-15 seconds, and here's the secret: *I pin each curl up to cool*. This is crucial! Let them cool completely. I usually do my makeup or get dressed while my curls are setting. Don't rush this step! Once they're totally cool, it's time to take out my curls w/me – and this is where the magic happens. I gently unpin each curl, one by one. The key is to be super delicate. Instead of immediately brushing, I start by softly shaking my head upside down to loosen them. Then, I use my fingers to gently separate the curls, working my way from the bottom layers up. For a softer, more blended look, I'll sometimes use a wide-tooth comb or a soft bristle brush, but really, finger-combing gives that perfect, undone yet polished effect I love. If I want more volume, I flip my head back over and gently tease the roots, especially around my crown and where my microbangs meet the rest of my hair. To finish, I mist a light hold hairspray all over, making sure not to weigh down the volume. Sometimes, I'll add a tiny drop of hair oil to the ends for extra shine and to combat any frizz, especially around my blue hair sections where color-treated hair can be a bit drier. This routine gives me that gorgeous, lived-in blowout that lasts for days, and it feels amazing! Trust me, mastering the art of taking out your curls gently is the biggest secret to a beautiful, long-lasting blowout.
