i look forward to the target pride section every year. in the past, i’ve found really fun and cute stuff that i wear all year round to show off my authentic self, like a “live laugh lesbian” shirt and a lesbian flag scrunchie (i love women). i ran to target today on my day off and was so disappointed!!!!!!
first of all, it was literally just the front sides of two tiny shelves in the middle of the clothes sections. it was half-assed and there were tons of bare spots. one hat, ugly purses, a charcuterie board (??? for some reason?) beach coolers, and the most generic shirts ive ever seen. also, half the shirts were long sleeves. i live in florida. it’s like 80 degrees 11 months of the year. i can’t wear half the shit anyway and the rest is the same shit i can get anywhere!!! i stg walmart has a better pride display 🙄
what happened target? you were so good the last few years and it feels like this year, you just dropped the ball. i dunno. maybe it’s just my local target here in florida but like i said, they had great displays in the past. let me know if you guys had better ones in other places cause i’m mad LMAO
... Read moreIt's always a highlight for many of us to see how big retailers like Target celebrate Pride Month. For years, the Target Pride section has been a go-to for vibrant and unique merchandise, offering everything from fun clothing to quirky accessories that let us express our authentic selves. I remember finding some truly special pieces in their Pride collection 2023 display that I cherished all year.
However, this year, many of us are noticing a significant shift in the Target Pride merchandise display. What was once a bustling, colorful area in the store now feels… different. The sparse display and limited selection of items, as seen in this year's 2024 collection, have left some shoppers feeling let down. It brings up a lot of questions about the big stores' Pride Month participation debate 2024. Are brands scaling back due to external pressures, or is there a genuine change in strategy? It's hard not to feel a bit disappointed when the vibrant celebration you've come to expect isn't there.
When the usual array of unique Pride merchandise isn't available, it can feel like a missed opportunity for connection and celebration. Instead of just generic shirts or random beach gear, many of us hope for items that truly resonate with the community. Things like specific flag designs, inclusive messaging, or even more thoughtfully curated accessories and clothing that go beyond just surface-level rainbow themes. The OCR results mentioning 'tiny ass mugs' and 'ugly ass bags' really hit home for some of us looking for quality.
So, if you're also feeling a bit let down by the Target Pride 2024 offerings, don't despair! There are still many wonderful ways to celebrate and find incredible Pride merchandise. Consider exploring LGBTQ+ owned small businesses and artists online. Many independent creators offer unique, high-quality clothing, accessories, and home goods that truly reflect the diversity and spirit of the community. You might find more meaningful items that not only celebrate Pride but also directly support queer entrepreneurs.
Supporting local Pride events and community centers is another fantastic way to engage. Often, these events feature artisan markets where you can discover amazing, one-of-a-kind pieces. While corporate displays can be convenient, sometimes the most authentic and impactful ways to celebrate come from within the community itself. Let's keep the spirit of Pride alive, no matter where we find our celebratory gear!
I'll always support a small business before big corporations when it comes to these kinds of things. They always have awful selections and don't actually care about us anyway
they got backlash so they’re dialing it back to keep hetero customers 😒
